Insight: Kings Stay in Sacramento / Power Politics in California / "The Gingerbread Lady" / Sound Advice: Jazz

Kings Stay in Sacramento After meeting for hours, NBA owners gave a resounding "no" to the bid to move the Sacramento Kings to Seattle. But it's still unclear if the team will be sold to the local investor group that's promised to build a new downtown basketball arena. The team's current owners continue to meet with representatives of a Sacramento investment group to hammer out details for a deal. Today on Insight, we'll get an update from Reporter Ben Adler in Dallas and we'll check back in with Seattle Sportscaster Art Thiel. Capital Public Radio Reporter Bob Moffitt also joins us in studio to talk about what happens next for the team, the city and the Maloofs.

Power Politics in California The Center for Investigative Reporting has found a correlation between plum appointments being assigned to Democratic Assemblymembers and how much money they donated to targeted Democratic campaigns in 2012. Assembly Speaker John Perez sent memos to Democratic assemblymembers asking them to donate funds to the Democratic Party to be used in key races during the 2012 election. Those that raised the most money found themselves assigned or chairing "juice committees." Money and politics reporter, Lance Williams, joins us to explain the influence of money and power in the California legislature and whether Speaker Perez violated any rules. We'll also hear a statement from Speaker Perez's office.

"The Gingerbread Lady" The New Helvetia Theatre is producing its first play this month. "The Gingerbread Lady" by Neil Simon is rarely staged despite Simon's prestige as a playwrite. Directed by Natasha Burr, and starring Sacramento actors Jamie Jones and Matt K. Miller, the play explores darker themes than most of the work Simon is known for ("The Odd Couple," "Rumors," "Brighton Beach Memoirs"). The three of them join us in studio.
