Steve Shadley works out of Capital Public Radio's studios in downtown Sacramento as a reporter for our statewide news service, California Capitol Network.
A veteran journalist, Steve has worked with NPR news for nearly 27 years and comes to Sacramento from KUNM-FM public radio in Albuquerque, New Mexico, where he was News Director and All Things Considered host.
Previous to Albuquerque, Steve was a news reporter and All Things Considered Host at WBEZ, Chicago Public Radio for almost nine years.
Steve embarked on his Midwest adventure when he landed a job working as a Morning Edition host at Wisconsin Public in 1998.
In the early 1990’s, he served as a state capital reporter for public radio station KJZZ in Phoenix, Arizona. Steve also has worked in public radio news at stations in Fort Collins, Colorado and Santa Cruz, California.
He has earned news awards from both the Associated Press and Public Radio News Directors Association. His hobbies include reading, oil painting, Ebay, and science fiction…he’s obsessed with collecting memorabilia from the Star Wars films.
He lives in Sacramento with his cat Toby.
