Willie Albright started in radio at KSAN-FM in San Francisco in the 1970s, moving to Truckee to work at KTRT-AM as a disc jockey and, eventually, news director. Taking a break from broadcasting, he worked for several years at various North Tahoe ski resorts before going to KUNR to resume his career.
An avid professional blues musician, Albright hosted KUNR’s Blues Show and worked as the station’s arts and humanities producer for nearly 10 years before moving to KTHX-FM as an announcer and reporter.
He worked at the Daily Sparks Tribune for seven years as a reporter and eventually become the paper’s Managing Editor and Managing Editor of the Comstock Chronicle in Virginia City.
Albright’s news and feature reports have appeared on NPR, BBC, CNN, ABC, and in newspapers worldwide. He has received numerous awards for both his print and radio work.
His wife, Laura, has patiently supported all these endeavors for more than 20 years. They live in Verdi, have two cats (Deeter and Dusty) and like to ski, mountain bike, play music together, listen to public radio and go to the Coast whenever possible.
Willie Albright reports for KXJZ News from Reno, Nevada.
