Kevin Marshall is with the Truckee-based real estate research firm. He says the year-over-year numbers are encouraging.
“It was actually really, really good. The nation’s home prices only depreciated 1.3% year-over-year and Sacramento only depreciated 0.9%. We started out really rough those first six-months. But we rallied back and end the year pretty much where we were at last January.”
And the quarterly numbers are even better. Between September and December of 2009…Sacramento area home prices went up by nearly 3%.

The numbers aren’t so good for Stockton and Modesto. In Stockton the year-over-year price depreciation was 9.6%. In Modesto it was 10.6%.
