National Weather Service forecaster George Cline says January is typically the wettest month of the year in Sacramento. But you wouldn’t know that based on the lack of rain so far.
“It’s been a while. The first of the year we had almost a tenth-of-an-inch – but nothing as significant as this storm.”
“This storm” is expected to drop up-to-an-inch of rain in Sacramento. And Cline says that’s just about what we need to be on track for the season.
“Normal season rainfall right now is a little over eight inches and we’re at about 7.25 inches. So this storm ought to put us back over normal.”
Cline says it’ll be a fairly mild storm temperature-wise. That means foothill communities won’t be seeing snow like they did last month. But higher elevations above 7,500 feet could see up to four-feet of snow.
