Stormy, Snowy Week Ahead

According to the National Weather Service the strongest storms of the year are coming to the Tahoe area this week. Sunday’s storm dropped only a few inches of snow but a stronger front is expected to move into the area tonight could bring another few feet of snow. Meteorologist Jessica Kielhorn says that’s only the beginning.
And then there’s another storm that comes in on Thursday and that one looks to be the strongest, several feet of snow expected in the Sierra and when you combine that with strong winds that’s when we’re looking for blizzard like conditions.
Kielhorn says highways 50 and 80 will likely be closed off and on throughout the week and that flights into and out of Reno will be subject to delays. However, Kielhorn says it will take several more such storms to end the area’s water shortages.
