And for the mountains…lots of snow and strong winds. In fact, a winter storm warning is in effect today.
Forecaster George Cline with the National Weather Service in Sacramento says anyone thinking about driving to Tahoe or Reno should think again.
“With the heavy snow you’re going to have some pretty good wind gusts. That’s going to be kicking the snow up into the air and reducing your visibility quite a bit. So if you can avoid travel in the mountains I recommend you delay your trip.”
But if you can’t delay your trip, weather service officials say you should carry tire chains and bring food, water, blankets and a flashlight in your car in case of an emergency.
The series of back-to-back storms is expected to continue through Thursday.
