Last year, Sacramento State took a $6 million funding hit.
But this year, Governor Schwarzenegger is proposing to restore $305 million in one-time cuts to the CSU system.

Gonzalez says his staff is still trying to figure out what that means for Sacramento State. But he says it won’t change the fact that they’ll be reducing enrollment by nearly 11%…or 2,800 students this fall.
“…even if the money were to be included in the final budget we don’t know when it will be signed. So it would be premature and potentially disastrous to turn the spigot back on for this fall with no guarantees of additional funding.”
Gonzalez says – in the best case scenario, the earliest they could admit more students would be next spring. In the worst case scenario…the campus will face a nearly 20% deficit if state funding remains the same as last year.
Campus officials plan to hold a town hall meeting on the budget next month.
