City Report: Natomas Permit Scandal Worse Than Originally Thought

Last year, the city transferred 35 home permits from their original properties to new ones. That violated rules set by the Federal Emergency Management Agency because of the Natomas area’s high risk of flooding.
But that’s not all that went wrong at the planning department, according to the report from a firm hired by the city attorney’s office. It says the city undercharged and under-collected 300-thousand dollars in permit fees. It also suggests officials issued another 13 permits that may have violated federal rules.
Responsibility for the planning department lies with City Manager Ray Kerridge. His office declined comment until Tuesday night's council meeting.
