Business Journal: Intel to Install Solar Panels at Folsom Campus

High-tech giant Intel Corp. will install massive solar-power systems at its campuses in four states, including its campus in Folsom.  The company will start construction on a 1.1-megwatt solar project in late March, if the city of Folsom approves the plan.
The solar panels would cover about six acres on the southwest portion of the Intel campus, and could be seen from Interstate 50.  The panels would be built next to a concrete pad poured nine years ago for Intel’s fifth building on the campus, but the tech bubble burst and canceled that project.
Intel plans to install 2.5 megawatts of solar-panel systems in California, Oregon, Arizona and Washington — or enough for about 425 homes.  The electricity generated will help power the Intel campuses, including about seven percent of the demand in Folsom.
