Soto: “Perhaps do some fasting or at least some cutting back on how we use these electronic devices at our fingertips.”
That’s everything from computers and cell phones to social media like Facebook and Twitter. Bishop Soto says instead of connecting people, technology may actually be helping to disconnect them from their friends and family.
Soto: “By putting aside the cell phone or computer, we can perhaps give more time to our relationship with God, our relationship with family, or even to other pursuits of being more involved in the local charity.”
The bishop says the Diocese is looking at getting a Facebook page – and some of his co-workers think he should try out Twitter. He says technology is a good thing – but it’s worth exercising moderation.
The Sacramento Diocese covers 20 counties and more than 40,000 square miles in Northern California.
