It’s part of CSU’s effort to encourage more African American students to apply to its colleges. The statewide campaign is called “Super Sunday.”
John Kepley with the office of President Gonzalez says Super Sunday is especially important in light of the state’s massive budget cuts.
Kepley: “We’ve been forced to cut enrollment to deal with those budget cuts. So it’s very important that we get the message out to make sure that everyone has an equal chance of going to college.”
The speakers will cover topics such as financial aid and how and when to start preparing for college.
Kepley says the CSU system has seen a 78 percent increase in freshman applications from African Americans since the program was launched five years ago.
