Angus Barkhuff is a forecaster with the National Weather Service in Sacramento.
“We’ve got the first one beginning Tuesday and lasting through Thursday and then another one over next weekend. We’re looking for a good amount of snow possibly heavy at times over the mountains and especially at the higher elevations over the passes.
Barkhuff says snow accumulations will range from eight-to-18-inches in the mountains. And some higher parts of the foothills…above the two-thousand foot elevation…could see snow as well.
Barkhuff says anyone planning to travel through the Sierra this week should be prepared to encounter winter driving conditions.
As far as rainfall in the Sacramento Valley…Barkuff says these storm systems could drop up to an inch.
