Faced with a $14 million dollar shortfall in its one $160 million budget the Stockton City Council has to make some cuts in programs and services.

Over the next three weeks, town hall meetings will be held in each of the six council districts. Stockton spokeswoman Connie Cochran says each meeting will be headed by the council member from that particular district.

“We'll share with them the current situation and the current budget situation and challenges. and we're asking for them to share their ideas and their priorities.”

The council is expected to finalize a new budget in June.

This isn't the first financial crisis Stockton has faced. Last year city officials had to slice $30 million from the budget.
