GOP lawmakers are asking Attorney General Jerry Brown to join the other state’s who have already filed suit against the health care overhaul. Republican Senator George Runner says it will hurt the state’s economy and is unconstitutional:

Californians should be outraged that they were pawns in this process used by legislators across not only this state but across the nation in order to get a vote for a bad health care system that ultimately is going to cost them more money.”

Attorney General Brown, who’s running for Governor as a Democrat, hasn’t said yes or no – only that he’s reviewing the bill. Republicans are also backing a constitutional amendment that would require voter approval of any program that mandates health coverage – be it state or federal. The Governor’s spokesman says Schwarzenegger has not indicated he wants to join the lawsuit, but he is concerned about the cost of the health care overhaul to states.
