Unemployment last month was 12 and a half percent – the same as January. But new data from the state’s employment development department shows that California lost more than 20-thousand jobs in February. That’s on the heels of a gain of about 25-thousand jobs in January. Construction posted the biggest job losses last month – although some sectors actually added jobs, including mining and logging and professional and business services. California has lost more than a half-a-million jobs over the last year. The U.S. unemployment rate was 9.7 percent – also unchanged, in February.
