Great Lakes Airlines, the only commercial carrier serving Merced regional airport will offer two flights daily to and from McCarran International Airport in Las Vegas starting April 7th. McCarran is a major hub in the west that serves thirty airlines.
Even though McCarran is located near the famous Las Vegas strip, great lakes spokeswoman Monica Taylor says it appears that most valley passengers will be heading to other destinations.
“Our advanced bookings show right now that there are a few going to Vegas just to go to Vegas, but the majority are going to be making a connection.”
The cost of a one way flight is eighty dollars if made at least thirty days in advance.
While Great Lakes is initiating service between Merced and Las Vegas, it's discontinuing flights between Merced and the Ontario Airport in Southern California.
