Jeff Reisig told the County Board of Supervisors this week that one consequence would be drastic cuts to his gang investigation unit and drug enforcement team.

“If you pull them out, you’re opening the door to gang members. Yolo County is a hub for gang members. It’s considered a key spot because it’s right on Interstate Five which is the major narcotics route for all gangs from Mexico to Canada. Don’t surrender on the gang and the drug issue.”

Yolo County supervisors are trying to close a budget deficit of more than $21 million.

They’re looking at cuts to other departments as well…including child support services, human resources and planning and public works.

Supervisors are holding a series of budget workshops. The next one will be held Friday morning.
