Donna Brown has Multiple Sclerosis. The Fairfield resident also heads the county’s IHSS Advisory Committee. Brown told the County Board of Supervisors this week…if they reduce funding, she could end up in a nursing home.
“I want to remain in my own home. If I had to be in a nursing home, so many people wouldn’t have the benefit of my example and knowledge in the community.”
But Supervisor Mike Reagan said the reality is – everything is on the chopping block.
“To think that there’s going to be no impact on this program as we are gutting many other valuable programs is a fantasy.”
County revenues are expected to decline ten-percent next fiscal year partly because of state budget cuts and lower property values.
