“It actually has fresh, pureed asparagus in it and then of course put into the ice cream so it’s delicious. It’s almost like a pistachio color, it’s a beautiful light green. And it just tastes really great.”
About 100,000 people are expected to attend the three-day event. Activities include cooking demonstrations, live entertainment and a five-mile run.
The festival is San Joaquin County’s biggest charitable event. Over its 25-year history, the festival has raised more than $4.5 million for local charities.
The San Joaquin Valley is the main asparagus- growing region in the United States.
