She’ll be part of a discussion on rebuilding Haiti. Pierre-Louis told Capital Public Radio’s Insight today that despite a Billion dollars of relief aid from the U-S and other countries, things are still the same for the Haitian people.
“They get medical support, they get water, they get food. But nothing in terms of looking at the future, looking at where they’re going to live, looking at where they’re going to work. This part, which is the rehabilitation part, has not started yet.”

Pierre-Louis admits corruption and mismanagement have plagued Haiti’s government for years. But she says the key to rebuilding Haiti is to create jobs and education opportunities in the provinces outside of Port Au Prince.

Another topic at Sacramento State’s three-day conference is: health care delivery in Africa. The event is being held at the University Union Redwood Room. It’s open to the public.
