RealtyTrac’s Daren Blomquist says Sacramento, Stockton, Modesto and Merced all saw foreclosure activity drop in the first quarter of 2010…when compared with the same period last year.
“That stood out to us and that was different than the majority of metro areas in the report – 77% did show increases in foreclosure activity from a year ago. So there’s something that seems to be happening in some of those foreclosure hot spots and that would include Sacramento.”
Foreclosure activity in the Sacramento area decreased four-percent from the first quarter of 2009.
Still, Sacramento has the 13th highest foreclosure rate in the country…with one-in-every-50 homes getting a foreclosure filing.
Modesto has the country’s second highest foreclosure rate, right behind Las Vegas. Stockton and Merced rank at five and six, respectively.
