The Jubilee has been in transition the past few years, working to figure out how many bands to book and where to present them. But Mike Testa with the Sacramento Convention and Visitors Bureau says it still gives the region a multi-million-dollar boost.
Testa: “They have added new music and changed some of their marketing approaches and it’s really a different event than it was five years ago. The challenge is to make sure the potential attendees get that message – that they don’t think it’s the same Jazz Jubilee that was here 20 years ago. So it is in change and it is growing, and I think they’re moving in the right direction.”
This is the event’s 37th year, and organizers are showcasing 70 bands at 24 venues Friday through Monday. Among the headliners: actress, singer and Roseville native Molly Ringwald, who performs Saturday.
