What Do Elections Officials Do the Day Before Primary Day?

What’s it like for elections officials the day before polls open?
Oakley: “Today (Monday) is the day we deal with a thousand last minute, little, tiny brush fires.”
Freddie Oakley is Yolo County’s Clerk-Recorder. She says poll worker training is done and all the polling places are set up and staffed. But on Monday:
Oakley: “We get all the phone calls from people who suddenly can’t work tomorrow or don’t understand what they’re supposed to do or aren’t sure where they’re supposed to go.”
Some worst-case scenarios from previous elections: a poll worker dies or a polling place burns down. But so far, Oakley says, there hasn’t been anything close to that bad this election.
So what ARE officials working on? Oakley says they’re getting more than 150 ballot styles ready to go – for all the different political parties in each of Yolo County’s different jurisdictions.
