Sgt. Al Williams is with the Yolo County Sheriff’s Department Marine Section. He says they’re already gearing up for extra patrols.

“Fourth of July’s always a big weekend for us, not only with boating, but also with water-related incidents. We plan on being out with as many boats as we can. We’ll bring some over-timers in and use our unpaid reserves to make sure that we can put as many boats and as much enforcement ability on the water that we can.”
This past weekend, the Yolo County Sheriff’s Department and six other local law enforcement agencies teamed up with the U.S. Coast Guard to target drunk and dangerous boaters.
Dubbed “Operation Delta Blitz”…the stepped-up patrols resulted in nine arrests and more than a-hundred citations along the Delta and the Sacramento, San Joaquin and American Rivers.
