Rubicon Partners is banking that community meetings, a website and twitter posts will influence city and downtown officials about its high-profile project on K Street, and change their minds about other development proposals. Rubicon Partners has embraced the power of the internet and social media in an effort to gain far-reaching community support for its Boqueria project that would boast a public market, a wine bar and exhibit space at 8th and K streets.
Now, city leaders have tentatively chosen local firms D&S Development and CFY Development’s proposal for housing and retails shops on the 700 block – along with well-known developer David Taylor’s plan for housing units and stores on the 800 block. But Rubicon Partners wants to at least argue for its proposal, since the city could make a final decision during the next few weeks.
