The mayor says he won’t ask the council to vote again this year to place a measure on the November ballot. Johnson tried last month, but lost on a 7-to-2 vote.
R.E. Graswich is Johnson’s special assistant.
Graswich: “The mayor got the message from the council that they have no appetite for the executive mayor reform package this year. So he doesn’t want to embarrass them at this point. He doesn’t want to cause any anxiety among his colleagues.”
Graswich says the mayor will keep pushing his strong mayor effort – and hopes to get it on the ballot either next year or in 2012.
