Sacramento-area home sales dropped 22 percent last month, as some homebuyer tax credits have ended and home-shoppers remain hesitant given the economy and the near-record jobless rate. About 2,700 homes sold in the four-county region last month. That’s about 800 fewer than a year ago — and 900 less than June.
According to MDA DataQuick, home prices dipped lower throughout the region, with Yolo County’s 12 percent drop the largest. Affordability is not an issue for most home-shoppers in the region, with seven of 10 able to buy the median-priced home of $211,000.
