During her fall convocation this week, UC Davis Chancellor Linda Katehi said the campus can rise to even greater heights in teaching and service…
"But if we are to accomplish these, we must move our ideas from the laboratory to the marketplace."
Katehi wants to develop a place where science and business can connect.
"We are ready to begin serious talks about creating an innovation park to transfer our research into commercial technologies."
Mitchel Benson with the university says the idea is still in its infancy, but campus officials are reaching out to local civic leaders and developers.
"Right now what we're trying to do is find the right mix of land and of people and of location."
He says an innovation park would be an economic boom to the region creating new jobs and tax revenues.
