The new drivers licenses will feature a raised signature, photos that are only visible by U-V light, and an image of the California brown bear that can only been seen with a flashlight from behind. Steve Haskins with the Department of Motor Vehicles says the changes will make it harder to forge California licenses.

"The present licenses as constituted when we issued it about 9 years ago was one of the most secure in the country but obviously times have changed and so has technology."

Haskins says the new license isn't required. But if you really want the updated license, you'll have to pay a 25 dollar replacement fee. Haskins recommends making an appointment if you do decide to visit the DMV.
