Firefighters are upset with the proposal. They say approval would result in a reduction of staffing and that in turn would endanger the public. Dave Macedo is with the firefighters union.
"If the staffing goes away people are going to die and the property loss of fires is going to get bigger."
Proponents say Measure H is needed to help address Stockton's huge budget deficit. Vice-Mayor Kathy Miller says the public will be at risk if the measure is defeated.
"The real public safety issue here is not about delivery of fire services. It's about our inability to properly support and staff our police department."
The Stockton Police Officers Association opposes Measure H.
