Officials with Service Employees International Local One-thousand say roughly three-quarters of members who voted approved the new deal. It includes pay cuts of nearly five percent, reduced pension benefits and increased pension contributions.  It also calls for one day of unpaid leave per month - compared to the three unpaid days off the Governor had required workers to take.  The deal guarantees no additional furloughs in the short term. The new contract is expected to save the state about 400 million dollars this fiscal year.  It was approved by lawmakers and the Governor as part of the state budget passed in October, and goes into effect right away.
