The Sacramento Fire Department has confirmed to Capital Public Radio that the fire was intentionally set. Eileen Thomas is the River City Food Bank's executive director. She says while similar fires are often committed by mentally ill or unbalanced arsonists, and even though many mentally ill people rely on her food bank, she doesn't think any of her clients are responsible.
Thomas: "The people that come to us are - I mean, they are concerned about what we're going through, more than they're concerned about themselves. So I just don't believe that it would be anyone that we have served here."
Thomas called the arson "creepy" - but said the food bank has to move forward anyway. And it is - it's distributing food out of a truck right now until it can move into a temporary home.
The fire department says it doesn't have any known suspects at this time.
