An electrician on a scissor lift is hanging lighting fixtures.
Metal studs are still visible in some parts of the walls. A
team of movers is pushing carts of furniture into the food bank's
new office. Eileen Thomas is the Executive Director of the
food bank. She is telling volunteers where to put supplies as
they move into the new facility.
Thomas: "I don't know if anybody has ever had to move into
a space that isn't quite ready for them yet so you don't know where
everything is and you're a little disoriented, but you make it
happen."
It's only temporary. But for now, the River City Food
Bank will be operating out of a new office on the bottom floor of
the Sutter Medical Center, which is directly across the street from
the old facility. Thomas says she doesn't know how long the
food bank will be at its temporary location. But she hopes it
can stay through the winter.
