Community leaders, business executives and even university officials say a university is what the city needs to help build and recruit companies - and jump-start the economy. Roseville city manager Ray Kerridge has a goal to lure a university within five to 10 years, preferably with a 40- to 50-acre campus near downtown Roseville.
Now, south Placer County has attracted some interest from California State University Sacramento and Drexel University. Both have discussed possible campuses in or near Roseville. And William Jessup University has its campus in nearby Rocklin. Also, several for-profit universities, such as University of Phoenix, have offices in Roseville, but there is not a full-scale four-year school in the city.
