"It's a fairly strong system, probably a little stronger than your typical winter storm. The winds tonight could be quite strong and they'll be possibility for trees falling and power outages and that sort of stuff so, be prepared."

Rowe says winds will gust as high as 44 MPH tonight.

The Sacramento area will also getting a good drenching…with about an inch of rain expected. Rowe says a flood watch is in effect for small rivers, streams and urban areas.

For the Northern Sierra Nevada…a winter storm warning is in effect for heavy snow.

The storm will also make its way to Southern California…which is still recovering from last week's drenching rain that resulted in tens-of-millions of dollars in damage.

A state of emergency was declared in nearly a dozen Southern California counties.
