Eleven months ago, the Sacramento City Council unanimously appointed Gus Vina the interim successor to former city manager Ray Kerridge. Now, there appear to be divisions within the council over whether Vina should get the job permanently - or whether the council wants to conduct a national search. On the public agenda tonight, Mayor Kevin Johnson's arena task force will present its report. The panel recommends a group led by developer David Taylor is the city's best bet.
And the council may also approve a new fee for drivers found to be at fault in traffic accidents requiring a fire department response. That fee was once intended to apply to everyone - but the current proposal would only affect drivers who live outside city limits.
