Thousands of grape growers and wine makers from around the world will be meeting for the Unified Wine and Grape Symposium.

Ken Freeze is with the conference. He says the wine industry has fared relatively well during the recession.

"One of the things that we've seen is that while people may during a recession, may not buy that $50 bottle of wine, they're still going to buy that $20 bottle of wine or maybe that $10 bottle of wine."

Freeze says the conference will cover a wide range of topics from the latest industry trends to new winemaking techniques. Freeze says one trend California wine lovers can expect to see more of is - boutique wineries.

"The love of wine is universal. And it seems like people, almost anywhere you go, they have a dream someday of opening up a winery and making a wine that people can enjoy and that they can enjoy."

The three-day symposium is being held at the Sacramento Convention Center.
