Protestors even sang a cover version of a John Lennon song as they rallied against Governor Brown's plan to cut 500 million dollars from IHSS.

Democratic State Senator Juan Vargas says it is significant
that lawmakers from both parties spoke at the rally.
"They try to image republicans as heartless but that's not true. They want to balance the budget and I understand that, and so that's why we're able work with them and say listen we understand we got to balance the budget but we can't disproportionately cut the poor, and that's what this budget does."
Vargas says IHSS is cheaper than caring for people in nursing homes.
California is facing a 25 billion dollar budget deficit, and
Brown has proposed cuts totaling about 12 and a half billion
dollars.
