Governor Brown is meeting with the Democratic and Republican caucuses in the Senate and Assembly over two days. After talking with Senate Democrats, Brown told reporters he's getting pushback from both parties:
"These Democrats in this room, I heard just as much concern about avoiding the cuts as I hear from Republicans about avoiding the tax extensions."
Brown's budget plan calls for deep cuts to many programs and asks voters to extend tax increases. Democratic Senate Leader Darrell Steinberg says Brown's sales pitch is well-received by Democrats:
"He's laid out a very clear framework that our caucus is ready to embrace."
