The program known as "One Student" is based on a national grassroots approach to end sexual assaults on campus.  It's intended to empower students with information and personal interaction using social media.

Jessica Heskin is the violence and sexual assault support coordinator at Sacramento State.  She's leading the campaign.

"A pamphlet and a poster aren't gonna cut it anymore.  Right?" Heskin said.  "Students are very socially connected to each other through social networking such as text messaging, twitter, facebook, email, right.  And so we have to be able to meet the students where they're at."

Heskin expected 200 people to sign up for the campaign.  More than 700 people signed up within four hours.

The university recorded seven sexual assaults last semester.  Two of those were violent.
