California brewers have worked hard over the years to craft
beers that distance themselves from the negative perceptions
associated with American beer, like the one depicted in this Monty
Python sketch.
Python Cut: "Frankly, over here, we find your American beer like making love in a canoe . . . Close to water."
Sacramento area breweries and restaurants will be hosting 300
events dedicated to the craft and consumption of beer.
Glynn Phillips is the owner of Rubicon Brewing Company of
Sacramento. He and nine other brewers have created special
cask beers for one of the events.
"And then a lot of us like to put extra hops or things,
like the Moylan's keg that's coming is the Chelsea Porter,"
Phillips said. "And the brewers gonna add in some special
chocolate. And it's just delicious."
Out-of-towners like Lagunitas, Sierra Nevada, and Sudwerks are
bringing beers brewed exclusively for Beer Week.
