It's expected to dump several feet of snow in the higher elevations…up to six-inches of snow in the lower foothills…and could even bring a dusting of snow to parts of Sacramento.
Tom Dang is a meteorologist with the National Weather Service office in Sacramento. He says the best chance for snow in the Sacramento Valley will be in the northern areas…
"But I wouldn't rule out some flurries and/or snow showers down to the valley floor or even in Sacramento. I'm talking about late Friday, maybe early Saturday."
Dang says it's been more than 30-years since any measurable snow fell in the Capitol City.
"One of the few times that snow has ever accumulated in Sacramento was in February of 1976. This storm looks very similar to that."
Sacramento got about 2 inches of snow back in February of '76.
Dang says the Sacramento area should dry out over the weekend…but overnight temperatures will be near freezing.
