Chamber CEO Gary Toebben says the endorsement of Brown's proposed tax extensions came after several phone calls and meetings …
Toebben: "… with the assurance
from the governor that regulatory reform and pension reform were
very high on his list and very important to our state and he would
be engaged in both of those issues."
Ben: "And if that were to not
happen for whatever reason, your endorsement would be
retracted?"
Toebben: "That's
correct."
The governor is still looking for two Republicans in each chamber to approve placing the tax extensions on a June special election ballot.
Another Southern California business group - the San Fernando Valley Industry and Commerce Association - says it also supports letting the voters weigh in. But it's not endorsing the tax extensions themselves - at least, not yet.
