Noah Coughlan is a serious runner. The 27 year-old typically runs about 50 miles a week. He'll be doubling that amount on Monday when he starts a cross-country run from San Diego to Florida.

"This is going to be a little different, I'll be running about 100 (miles a week). But I can walk some of it if I want. Just basically have to cross America on foot, that's the goal."

Coughlan says he was inspired to make the 2,500 mile trek by two friends of his in Vacaville - sisters Catie and Annie Allio who both suffer from Batten Disease, a rare disorder of the nervous system. The sisters have lost their sight and motor skills.

"It's really hard on the families and the kids really try to beat it. As far as the motivation for running, it's there."

Coughlan says the donations he's collecting will go to the Batten Disease Support and Research Association. He expects to reach Jacksonville by July 9th.
