The study includes data from Sacramento International, Mather and Executive airports.

Karen Doron is with the Sacramento County Airport System. She says fewer people have been flying during the recession. But the combined revenue generated by all three airports has been hovering around $4 billion a year.

"It dropped a little bit in 2009 and 2010 because of the economy. But for 2011, we're going to be back up to $4.095 billion and it will continue to grow over the next several years."

One reason for the projected growth is that Sacramento International is currently building a new terminal that will be opening later this year.

"I can hear construction outside my window right now and when we open the new terminal we'll have more jobs for people to work in the building."

Right now, the Airport System employs about 4,170 people…with another 6,830 jobs in airline-travel related industries.
