Josie McCarter manages DeVere's Irish Pub. She says
the pub has expanded its St. Patrick's Day activities to
accommodate the celebrating crowds in midtown.
"This year we're offering two parties because in previous
years we were not able to offer everyone in who wanted entrance in
those previous years," McCarter said.
She says DeVere's and the Downtown Sacramento Partnership are
hosting a St. Patrick's Day festival in Cesar Chavez Park
today.
Many other local bars and restaurants will also be serving
food and drinks in the festival, and there'll be plenty of
Irish-themed bands playing, like the Black-Eyed Dempsey's.
"And the headliner's gonna be Zoo Station," McCarter
said. "They are a U-2 Cover band out of the Bay
Area."
McCarter says there's a cover charge for the festival, which
will benefit Mary House, a homeless shelter for women and
children.
