All the spillways at Nimbus Dam are open, making room for
additional rain expected in the coming days.
Bob Rasch is a forecaster with the National Weather Service.
He says two weeks of storms have put most creeks and streams
in the Sacramento area at critical levels.
"We do have what we call a flood watch out," Rasch
said. "And our main emphasis of that flood is small rivers,
creeks, and streams."
Rasch says any flooding in the coming days will most likely be
confined to small tributaries. He says flooding of the
Sacramento or the American River isn't likely with about an inch of
rain in the forecast.
The Sacramento and the American River are running high
though. The city has crews monitoring the
levees.
Rasch says another strong storm is moving into the Sacramento
area this Saturday.
