Governor Brown signed 13 bills that include cuts to Medi-Cal, welfare-to-work grants and parks. He has yet to work out a deal with Republican lawmakers to put his proposal to extend a series of tax extensions on the ballot.  He says he's considering other options- including a November ballot initiative and a strategy that includes Democrats putting the taxes on the ballot without GOP support:

"A lot of things are better than all cuts.  All-cuts is going to be an irreversible path forward that will leave a lot of tears in its wake."

Brown has said without the tax extensions, he'll sign a budget that includes only cuts to solve the nearly 27 billion dollar problem.  The Governor says he's still meeting with Republicans, but as for how close he is to a deal:

"only the good Lord knows."
