The group of ten Republican legislators and one Democratic lawmaker will be joined by Lieutenant Governor Gavin Newsom. GOP Assemblyman Dan Logue says Texas has lured companies away from California and lawmakers can learn from that:
"Basically what's happening is California is being cannibalized by states throughout the country that are hiring firms just to come here. They're setting up shops here. I think the Governor of Texas spends more time in California than he does in Texas."
The group will meet with Texas Governor Rick Perry and talk with businesses that have relocated from California. But when asked whether he thought Texas was a better place to do business than California, Governor Jerry Brown was very clear:
"Hell No."
